Dear Friends of the Cabarete Classic,

I would like to thank everyone who participated in or came out to support our competition this year. First and foremost I would like to thank Andres Philipe from the Professional Windsurfers Association, Windsurf Magazine and Windsport Magazine for his fantastic coverage of the event. If anyone would like to see the stories about the Classic, you can visit the magazine online at www.windsurfmagazine.com. , www.allatsea.net and www.abordomagazing.com.do Coverage of the event will also be published in their print edition this month. I would also like to give a special thanks to George Coutu and Millennium Resort and Spa. From the very beginning George has supported me and my goal of establishing a world class competition here in the Dominican Republic. I will forever be grateful for his continued support.

My dream has always been to create an event that truly captures the spirit of windsurfing here in Cabarete. Through youth outreach with organizations in Cabarete such as the DREAM Project, the International Kite boarding Organization (IKO) and local businesses such as Vela Windsurf Resort and Carib Wind Center and every locals hotels in town , we have been able to support Dominican kids who want to get involved in the sport . We have been able to offer free instruction to kids who would not otherwise have the resources to learn. We have been able to offer swimming lessons to children who live just minutes from the ocean, yet who have never had the chance to learn this crucial, yet basic skill. Some of the kids we have worked with have went on to become accomplished surfers, who compete in their own right. Without windsurfing, some of these kids would undoubtedly find themselves in a different place. I am proud to be able to say that we have helped to give these kids, through Windsurfing, an alternative to drugs, gangs and a life in the street. We have tried to give them something greater to reach for in their lives. I will continue to work to create opportunities like this for children in the local community.

The Cabarete Classic has grown every year. This past year we had more competitors than in any prior year of the event. But I still want to achieve more. I want to make next year's competition bigger and better, with bigger competitors and more support than ever before. But I cannot do this alone. Without you, my dreams for this event would still be just that, dreams. I hope to see you again next year.

Sincerely,
Pablito Guzman
